With the backdrop of the global crisis, many motorcycle manufacturers rely on cost control, for example by closing a lot of activities. At BMW, the opposite is happening. Bayern showed courage and innovation with an attack on a new market segment with fresh produce: two maxi scooters C 650 and C 600 Sport GT BMW wants to conquer the big scooter segment. Starting is hard. BMW has never built a scooter: Roller Roof legendary C1-flop of the year 2000. But this time the Bavarians are based on standard class and access to the two flagship scooter segment. C 600 Sport has a sporty Yamaha Tmax in for success, and comfortable with touring-oriented C 650 GT to lure customers from the Suzuki Burgman 650
Deviate from the different information transfer in the name of the newly developed engine the same 647 cc two-cylinder inline, 44 kW/60 hp and a CVT automatic scooter duo at the heart of Bavaria. Already the state has a twin liquid-cooled engine produces strong voice and pulse the machine looks. When it rises to approve the twin BMW initially a little pause to think, have been made for the centrifugal clutch 2 500 power trip. But then sports and GT dash to power ahead at the lights and let everything else stand. Is one scooter BMW on the road, they increased the number of spontaneous motor on the gas, and offers a crisp blast of speed. Overtaking is very unusual as regular exercise. BMW top speed of nearly 175 km / h.
With the chassis, BMW is also cutting the cost of a modular system: GT Sports shows how largely the same, with the development of motorcycle-inspired chassis. Backbone is a hybrid of a conventional bridge frame with tubular steel construction blur-profile die-cast aluminum, which takes a single-sided swing arm. While most other scooters and motorcycles form the arms of a unit bolted to the engine in the BMW, which stiffened composite for the purpose of driving behavior is stable and accurate. At the front of the scooter arena usual inverted fork with 40 millimeters stanchion diameter is used, the left side of the rear struts lying in pottery. This spring, the trails are very long, but what makes for great convenience.
Both BMW-scooter makes handling extremely useful and has not been stable on the day. In particular, 249-pound C 600 Sport can be moved smoothly and up to the tapes and asphalt winding through major changes. Stability problems Bavaria know scooters are not. The same goes for twelve pounds heavier C 650 GT tourers, which operates in all, the fat lane, but to score points with the stability of the white right.
According to BMW safety philosophy of the scooter is equipped with two-channel ABS motorcycle home standards. Independent system, which appears on the wheel, may wish to explore motorcyclist’s toxic, dissolves back of ABS too early. Smart Idea: The parking brake is activated automatically when the rear lower side stands.
Although technically identical platform C 600 C 650 Sport and GT conceptually different. Design, ergonomics and differentiation of the defining features: With a sporty body and just cut the trim, slim tail and the angle of the points, the dynamics of C 650, C 650 GT delivers more abundant plastic parts that remind flagship BMW R 1200 RT touring, for the most entertaining and wind and weather protection. Large windshield is electrically adjustable contrast with the guidance of the equivalent of three stages of his sport, in terms of the windshield can not be entirely convincing.
Will find a bank of 70 degrees forward tilt cylinder and placed behind the flat drive CVT. This allows the typical roller-thru. But the wide center tunnel was built, left foot only a small area is left. In the C 600 Sport Honda in oriented seating position handlebar height 810 mm. In the area it sits low GT with 780 mm, but with more cushion and backrest adjustable for driver and passengers more comfortable. According to a different destination from autumn to make space available. C 650 GT has a 60-liter luggage compartment under the seat of, C 600 Sport is the concept of variable storage Flex Case in which the storage compartment floor can be lowered to store two helmets in a parked car as possible. Additional storage space is available in two models with two glove boxes in the bow for the disposal is left locked.
Both scooters have in common is, fertile high-quality equipment with a variety of instruments from analog speedometer and LCD on-board computer. Also a variety of electrical equipment such as heated grips special, heated seats, alarm system and tire pressure control (RDC) is available. Connection of additional customers already installed in the wiring harness. A multi-functional key and lock the seat of the central opening, the tank lid and drawer front left. 16 liter tank is filled from the front end of the bench. That's enough, though the engine is tight for a range of more than 300 kilometers.
Given the thoroughness with which the orientation of Scooter BMW has made a significant new C-model is more successful than happy C1 will be granted. The biggest problem may be that despite the high quality have hefty price expectations: for C 600 Sport BMW requires € 11 100, C 650 FGT is to € 11 450 to have.

BMW Motorrad scooter Concept

A year ago, BMW Motorrad (the motorcycle division of the BMW Group) launched its Concept C Scooter, which was aimed at bringing BMW into the worldwide scooter market where it current has no representation.
As in other BMW motorcycles, the so-called split face runs from the upper trim section to above the front wheel cover, giving the Concept e an unmistakable, dynamic front view.
The dynamic performance is reflected in the color and material concept. The front and rear side trim finished in “Light white” contrasts with components such as the upper trim section in “Black chrome light” and side sills coated in “Black chrome dark”.
Car and motorcycle maker BMW says it is working on an electric scooter design called the Concept e. The scooter is part of a plan at BMW to bring electric and hybrid drive systems to premium vehicles and promote more efficient forms of urban mobility.
The company says later production scooters derived from the concept will combine the agility of a scooter with the more dynamic riding feel of a motorcycle.
As an integrated part of the BMW Group, BMW Motorrad is also addressing issues of individual single-track mobility and future customer needs. In this connection, BMW Motorrad is expanding its business activities to include a new facet: that of “Urban Mobility”.
Before the end of this year, BMW Motorrad will establish its new
“Urban Mobility” area with two premium vehicles in the maxi scooter segment. The BMW maxi scooters combine the functionality of a scooter with the riding pleasure of a motorcycle. Both vehicles are powered by high-performance and efficient 2-cylinder combustion engines.
At the Frankfurt International Motor Show (IAA), BMW will be presenting its design concept in this area for the first time: “BMW Concept e”.
Visionary design for a new drive concept.
The design study BMW Concept e embodies the vision of an electrically powered scooter made by BMW Motorrad. An e-scooter with sustainable technological solutions and the aesthetic design of the Concept e provides a response to these changing urban mobility needs.
At the IAA in Frankfurt, BMW i presents visionary vehicles which are individually tailored to their respective purpose – the BMW i3 Concept and the
BMW i8 Concept. The BMW i3 Concept is the automobile with consistently sustainable design, conceived specifically for an urban setting.
Concept e – a vision with a future.
The Concept e is a vision: BMW Motorrad designers have developed the style and shaping of the e-scooter of the future – electric, digital, dynamic. The shaping and precision achieved reflect the core values of BMW Motorrad: emotion, dynamic performance and innovation. In addition to technical functionality and quality, the BMW Motorrad designers attach importance to an emotional dialogue between rider and vehicle. Hallmark BMW Motorrad design elements.
The BMW Concept e is clearly identifiable as a member of the
BMW Motorrad family. As in other BMW motorcycles, the so-called split face runs from the upper trim section to above the front wheel cover, giving the Concept e an unmistakable, dynamic front view.
The successful BMW Motorrad design style is also reflected in the styling of the twin-tipped spoiler in the floating panel of the front trim, a boomerang-shaped, aerodynamically formed floating panel. Colour and material concept blends in with overall concept.
The design of the light alloy wheels is derived from the styling of the BMW i automobiles.
The Concept e highlights its visionary character by dispensing with conventional rear mirrors. Innovative technology in a future serial production vehicle.
The later serial production vehicle will fully meet customer expectations of a single-track vehicle offering sustainable mobility. For the power electronics and battery technology, BMW Motorrad draws on the innovative e-technology and extensive expertise of the BMW Group.
BMW i high voltage technology (> 60 volts) with the very highest safety standards enables electrically powered vehicles to equal the acceleration rates of a maxi scooter with combustion engine. Practical experience with concept vehicles has already shown that the battery rarely runs out completely, so charging times are generally shorter.

2011 Kymco Like 200i review and Specs

2011 Kymco Like 200i
The perfect combination of classic vintage nostalgia and KYMCO modern technology and reliability is now in a fast, agile mid range displacement scooter.
Experience true two-up performance with a powerful Electronic Fuel Injected engine. Available in three classic colors: Black, Red and Ivory.
Scooter buyers in the USA prefer retro scooter designs. The rest of the world purchases more "modern" scooters. Scooters with aerodynamic shapes and more rider protection from wind, rain and road dirt. Scooters like the Kymco People 'S' and the Kymco Yager GT200i. The Kymco Like is available in 2-stroke 50cc and 4-stroke 163cc versions. At an indicated speed of 30 MPH the actual speed is 28.5 MPH. At an indicated 50 MPH the actual speed is 47 MPH. A touch disappointing as I was expecting an actual top speed of 70 MPH. Fuel economy during the review was 82 MPG. The Kymco Like 200i is powered by a 163cc fuel injected forced-air cooled engine. A CVT (Continuously Variable Transmisssion) transfers power automatically. Disc brakes front AND rear handle stopping chores and a telescopic fork up front along with dual shocks in the rear make up the suspension. The Like 200i rides on 12 inch rubber front and rear.
The People sits on bigger (16 inch) tires and is carbureted. All three machines have different and distinct designs.
For competitor comparison, I selected the Vespa LX150i, new from Piaggio with fuel injection and the Honda SH150, also fuel injected. The Kymco Like 200i comes well-equipped with a nice dash that includes a clock and fairly accurate fuel gauge. If one's garage door opener is in the glove box, one must shut off the scooter and remove the key from the ignition to open the glove box, activate the door opener and then re-start the scooter to place it in the garage. One very nice feature inside the glove box is a power socket. Of course the trunk easily accepted the helmet. The fuel filler is also located under the seat.

2011 Piaggio MP3 500 Sport

2011 Piaggio MP3 500 Sport
Riding has never been this easy, enjoyable, secure and fast. When you take 20% less braking distance required, pair it with a lean angle of 40 degrees, you get a perfect machine for impeccable road holding in all road conditions.
So, at first glance, the new Piaggio MP3 500 Sport might simply appear as a new graphics reserved to the Gilera Fuoco 500: and, instead, instead of two rings of the House of Arcore, Piaggio is now place the logo as well as an aggressive graphics matt, initially thought to take hold on the American public by playing on the strength of the brand Piaggio (made popular by Vespa) even in the States.
492 cc., single-cylinder dual-spark, the engine that drives MP3 Master 500 Sport is capable of delivering 40 hp at 7,250 rpm and maximum torque of over 42 Nm at 5,500 rpm, sufficient to provide benefits “sport” to a vehicle that was created to provide a pilot and one passenger safety standards much higher than that of a traditional scooter: thanks to dual front wheel, in fact, MP3 is able to provide unmatched performance in low grip as well as greater safety in emergency conditions.
The Piaggio MP3 500, with aggressive styling and performance, is the three-wheeler for people who want to stand out. Riding has never been this easy, enjoyable, secure and fast. When you take 20 percent less braking distance required, pair it with a lean angle of 40 degrees, you get a perfect machine for impeccable road holding in all riding conditions.

2011 Can-Am Spyder RT

The 2011 Can-Am Spyder RT Limited represents technology, comfort and convenience all coming together for the best experience on extended expeditions.
How does 155 liters of cargo space, an electrically adjustable windshield, ultra-plush touring saddles and optional travel trailer sound?
the 2011 Can-Am Spyder RT has confirmed that early suspicion.
With the RT standing for Roadster Touring, this flavor of the Can-Am Spyder is particularly enticing. For 2011, Spyder RT refinements include, revised shock calibrations intended to improve handling, increased ventilation in hot weather for driver and passenger via a redesigned windshield and wind deflectors, less wind on both riders' necks, and lighted passenger heated grip control for easier night operation.
A huge part of motorcycling is the lean, and the Can-Am Spyder RT is specifically designed to eliminate leaning.
The Can-Am Spyder RT has two types of transmissions - a standard five-speed (SM5), plus a semi-automatic version (SE5) with a paddle-shifter. As the RT is about relaxing and enjoying the scenery and ride, I prefer the clutchless, left-thumb operated paddle-shift.
Had I had a longer ride on the Spyder RT, I probably could have mastered the system. Steering is easier than on the original Spyder, thanks to the electronically controlled Dynamic Power Steering system that makes turning those two automobile-style front tires much easier.
At low speed, the DPS has a great effect, which properly lessens as speeds increase. It's a superb system, aiding in both rider ease and control. While I didn't crank the Spyder RT's front wheel as hard as I could at speed, I did try some abrupt maneuvers and the VSS transparently did its job.
Other familiar safety features include traction control and ABS. Although the Spyder RT isn't about sport riding, and it won't satisfy a motorcyclist in that capacity, it is pleasant though fast sweepers.

2011 Honda PCX Reviews

The mid-sized 2011 Honda PCX is a good argument against this general lack of scooter knowledge. As with most scooters, throwing a leg over the PCX is easy. It’s 29.9-inch seat height, low center of gravity, and well-placed controls give it a familiar and comfortable feel, and the gently stepped seat helps to keep the rider firmly in place under acceleration. The PCX is powered by a liquid-cooled four-stroke engine displacing 125cc and its fuel-injection system includes an automatic enrichment feature for cooler climates. With the ignition turned on and the rear brake lever squeezed, the Honda starts gently and idles quietly.
Notably, Honda estimates that riders who aren’t trying to test the performance limits of the PCX can squeeze 110 miles per gallon from the four-stroke single. As for stopping power, the three-piston 220mm front disc and rear drum brakes are strong, and the lever pull firm. The activation is so smooth that it’s imperceptible to the rider, but a firm pull on the rear brake lever leaves no doubt that the front disc is working.
The handling is light, precise, fluid, and stable at the speeds the PCX is able to generate, no doubt aided by its 14-inch wheels.
The PCX is powered by a liquid-cooled 125cc single-cylinder engine, landing in Honda’s line-up between the China-built Elite 110 and the Italian-built SH150i. The PCX is the first import coming from Honda’s newly constructed Thailand plant.
Small yet feature-packed, the PCX sports the ‘twist-n-go’ Honda V-Matic drive system (belt-converter automatic transmission), sparing the rider of any shifting or clutching needs.
The PCX is slightly larger in wheelbase (51.4 inches compared to the Elite 110’s 50.2 inches) and saddle height (29.9 inches to 29.1, respectively), the PCX is sure to be a hit with their target market – youth and new riders.
The PCX's Unit rear swingarm is suspended by a single shock with 2.9 inches of travel while the 31mm hydraulic front fork has 3.5-inches; neither is adjustable.
The Honda PCX has a fully fueled curb weight of 280 pounds.
Keeping safety a top priority for those newly addicted to riding “in the wind,” the new PCX will carry the same Combined Braking System (CBS) found on both the Elite and the SH. Linking front to rear, applying a little front-disc braking before rear-drum application for better control in potential adverse conditions and emergency situations.
Honda offers more cargo options via a 2.3-liter top box for $120.95. In the end, Honda’s scooter portfolio is expanded nicely with the new PCX, offering sportier styling than the traditionally flavored Elite and SH150i.
The "2011 Honda PCX" scooter is a great all-round people mover. The PCX is easy to ride with a step through frame and a low center of gravity.
110 MPGs!!! The 2011 Honda PCX is very competitive in the marketplace. The PCX is almost $1,000 cheaper than the "Vespa LX150".

Honda Silver Wing scooter

If you want to own the road, then this is the scooter for you: the 2010 Honda Silver Wing. Breezing through the roads, this scooter is made for your cravings in a long-sustaining high-speed journey.
Combined with its Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) with automatic enricher circuit and four-hole injectors, it efficiently increases available fuel energy. In pair with the engine carburetion, it has a computer-controlled fully transistorized ignition. Another plus is its transmission: an Automatic V-matic belt drive, which eliminates the hassles of shifting gears.
Still about long journeys, its fuel capacity is 4.2 gallon, and included to that is a 0.9 gallon reserve. Two innovations are in its braking system: the Combined Braking System (CBS) and the Anti-lock braking System (ABS). 2010 Honda Silver wing, having a three-piston front brake and a two-piston rear brake and along with the CBS, makes an efficient and strong braking force. Drawbacks
For 2011, Honda re-releases it's popular Silver Wing scooter, a machine packed with a fuel-injected, four-stroke 582cc twin. This Honda scooter offers a high-level of performance along with easy operation, and comes with ABS for 2011.
The big, plush Honda Silver Wing scooter is your best bet if you plan to do a lot of freeway or long-distance riding, reviews say. Meeson also nearly winds up in a ditch when a high wind gust slams into his Silver Wing's big body panels. Some critics particularly like the Honda Silver Wing because it looks more like a big motorcycle than a scooter. The weighty Honda Silver Wing would be difficult for a small rider to heft off of its center stand, one critic notes, and it guzzles more gas than smaller scooters (46 mpg in one test).
We found lengthy, expert road tests of the Honda Silver Wing scooter at the Los Angeles Times, TheScooterReview.com and Wheels.ca, an automotive site sponsored by the Toronto Star. About.com's motorcycle-enthusiast tester is surprised to find himself enamored with the Silver Wing. MotorcycleNews.com, a British site, tests the Honda Silver Wing and rates its various attributes (engine, equipment, etc).

Whiplash scooter Reviews

Whiplash scooter Reviews
Whiplash is an awesome scooter with a twist. I’ve been trying to work on riding it without the kids laughing at me. It is a whole lot of fun but I’m getting old. We’ve been spending more time outside since I’ve been working on this review.
Assembly was quite easy. To adjust them, you just push the knobs in and then slide it up to the next set of knob wholes and then it’s longer.
The handles on the handlebars can fold down, just by pushing the knobs in and poping them out. This makes for easy storage.
The skateboard part of the Whiplash scooter easily screws onto the handle piece and all pieces are included.
The Whiplash from Street Surf is great fun for both boys and girls (recommended for ages 5 and up) while helping them get outside and helping them become more active. It’s a scooter with a twist!
Product Description:
This self propelling revolutionary new ride that whips side to side, is part scooter and part Casterboard and totally fun!
Features:
Rear caster wheel with ABEC 7 bearings
Extra long handle that folds for easy travel & storage
Wave Torsion Self propelling technology
Extra wide skate inspired flexing deck
Reinforced & lightweight design
To put the skateboard part of the Whiplash scooter on it easily screws into the handle piece. For easy storage or transporting the handlebars also fold down making the scooter compact and easy to carry.
haha. I did notice that using it like a regular scooter is pretty hard, it seemed much easier to place both feet on the "Whiplash scooter" and rock yourself so you move your weight back and forth to move the Whiplash scooter.
One lucky reader will win a brand new Whiplash Scooter!

Scooter-BMW Motorrad division, the Concept C scooter

After the MINI E Scooter Concept, BMW returns today with their own-branded scooter: BMW Concept C. Built by the BMW Motorrad division, the Concept C scooter extends BMW’s reach into future mobility.
BMW Motorrad brings a solution to the table in a concept form at this stage.
At a recent trade show in Italy, BMW’s motorcycle division showcased a new scooter concept, dubbed the Concept C.
It appears that BMW is refocusing its energies on selling scooters. BMW had displayed a Mini-branded electric scooter at the 2010 Paris Motor Show.
The “C” nomenclature isn’t just a reference to the C1, BMW's previous scooter venture. BMW considers these small, efficient two-wheelers as a terrific means for personal transportation in congested urban areas
BMW's concept brings sexy to the scooter.
Leave it to BMW's Motorrad division to make a scooter that's absolutely stunning.
The Concept C does away with your typical scooter stylings.
At 2010 EICMA show in Milan, BMW unveiled their first Concept C scooter. “C” letter stands for commuter and the new Concept is a study of a sporty premium scooter that previews the brand’s enter in the big scooter segment.
In the near future, BMW Motorrad division plans to launch two premium models of the the Concept C both with internal combustion engines.
BMW Concept C incorporated many design elements from Motorrad models, including the “split face” with integrated LED headlamp. Unlike the L-shaped profile of most big scooters with their predominantly vertical body lines and colour scheme, the Concept’s body lines sweep up to the rear, forming a “high-tail” rear section that emphasises lightness and agility.
Braking is taken care of by dual front discs with GP-style, radial-mount callipers and a single rear disc with BMW’s proven antilock braking system.

honda ruckus review

Is there anything more fun than zipping around town on an ultra-maneuverable scooter? How about hitting the trails with that same scooter! In researching scooters we found all types of options, from 500+ cc engines capable of touring the US to ultra efficient scooters that get 125mpg. But we didn’t find any scooter that was more fun to ride than the Honda Ruckus. As we’ve mentioned, the Ruckus scooter is fun, but at 3LUXE we go beyond the experience, this scooter has Honda’s reliability and is easy to use for anyone new to scootering.
I figured out that it costs me 5 dollars a day to drive back and forth to the beach in a car that gets 30 mpg.
If you have a car and are driving without insurance in Hawaii. I went over the little scooter and greased and oiled everything. Cleaned the spark plug and added some fuel cleaner. The little Honda Ruckus starts right up every time.
Probably 300 miles total. The "Honda Ruckus" is built like a tank. You can get ruckus performance parts that will make you Ruckus go over 50 mph. Like I said the Ruckus is really durable and takes a beating. I wouldn't recommend the Ruckus for conventional motorcycle riders. Most of them say the Ruckus ia a dog, meaning it doesnt go very fast. Get a Ruckus Scooter if you live a few miles from where you work and can at least putt to work 50% of the time. Just the money you save in gas will pay for your Ruckus in a year or so!
If you are interested in reading more reviews about the Honda Ruckus and Ruckus parts

It also has Automatic V-Matic belt drive that would give you good support while driving. It has front 120/90-10 front tires and 130/90-10 rear tires. 2011 Honda Ruckus comes with the front suspension of Twin-downtube fork. It has single shock rear suspension and it has 2.6inches travel suspensions that adds another feather to its cap. This scooter meets all the current carb as well as EPA standards.
