The 2011 Supercross season begins Saturday

We caught up with Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki Lites rider Josh Hansen at the recent 2011 Monster Kawasaki Team Introduction and picked his brain on what to expect from him for this year’s Supercross season.

The 2011 Supercross season begins Saturday and it's getting more hype than any season since 2005, when James Stewart moved to the premier class. Why? This year, Stewart faces reigning champ Ryan Dungey and two-time champ Chad Reed. Here's what to watch for this season.

Ryan Dungey says he's already forgotten about 2010, but considering he's won every championship he's contested since January 2009, he may have forgotten what it's like to not win. wo-time champion James Stewart got only three races in last season, and he was injured at two of them. He said he wasn't fully healed from his January wrist injury until late October 2010. In Villopoto's injury-shortened season, he won plenty, despite remaining a bit inconsistent.

As the first rookie to capture the Supercross and Outdoor championships, Ryan Dungey doesn't have firsthand knowledge yet on the difficulty of defending both crowns.

A plethora of injuries sidelined several contenders last year, helping clear the way to twin titles for Dungey. •Healthy again after a long layoff, Chad Reed has formed TwoTwo Motorsports and will be the first championship threat to ride for his own team since Jeremy McGrath.
